About the Stop the Silence Walk and Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP):

Launched in 2006, Sisters Network Inc. Stop the Silence 5K Walk/Run is the only National African American Breast Cancer Walk. A portion of the funds raised benefits the Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP) which assists breast cancer survivors, currently in treatment and facing financial challenges.  Financial assistance is paid directly to third-party providers and covers rent and utilities. In 2020, due to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19, Sisters Network expanded BCAP to address food insecurity. Survivors were eligible for grocery financial assistance.

BCAP is also an early detection program that provides free mammograms to non-diagnosed women. Over the last 15 years, the Breast Cancer Assistance Program has assisted thousands of survivors nationwide.

Sisters Network Inc. is excited to host our 11th Annual Stop the Silence Virtual 5K Walk/Run.  Your participation supports Sisters Network Inc.'s mission to reduce the mortality rate of breast cancer among African American women.

What is a Virtual Walk?

The Stop the Silence Virtual Walk is a real walk, but this year due to COVID-19 it's on your terms: You get to choose your own course and who walks next to you (socially distanced of course)! The walking is real-it's the community that's virtual.  So register today and lace up your favorite sneakers and walk or run in your neighborhood, local park, or at home on the treadmill on Saturday, April 10, 2021, between 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (CST) to support Sisters Network 11th Annual Stop the Silence National African Breast Cancer 5K Walk/Run.  Funds-raised benefit the Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP) to provide financial assistance to breast cancer survivors nationwide. Thank you for your support!
